Need to Act?

Here a list of Best Practices for LinkedIn Group Managers, useful also for group members.

During 2011 LinkedIn introduced the Open Group. In a group that becomes open, the prior discussions are no longer visible. There is however a way to relaunch them:

  • Select tab Discussions,
  • under your picture, select Your Activity,
  • in the Member block, select Discussions You've Started,
  • at the bottom of the page, select Go to Archive, which brings you in the archive of prior group discussions
  • select a discussion that you like to relaunch; in the blue ribbon on top of it, you can select Restart discussion (after necessary inspection)
  • You may receive the message "We ran into a problem with your request. Try again later."
  • If that happens, you could also restart it manually.

Description

LinkedIn Groups provide a place for professionals in the same industry or with similar interests to share content, find answers, post and view jobs, make business contacts, and establish themselves as industry experts.

Availability

Only for LinkedIn members to join, yet discussions in Open Groups can be accessed by anyone on the web.

There is a Groups Directory.

Blueprint

There are a number of features of LinkedIn that one had better be aware of before contributing "'valuable content:"

  • copyright rules
  • The one who has started a discussion (asked a question) can wipe out all comments (answers)
  • The closed to open group transition
